New equipment revealed for 2021 Toyota Hilux line-up

The Toyota Hilux has worked hard to earn its reputation as one of the world’s most trusted and capable pick-ups. But there is much more to the 2021 Toyota Hilux than that. More than ever, we feel it is a vehicle that strikes an optimal work/life balance.

As explained below, the 2021 model year has brought numerous changes to deliver on that promise. The suspension has been modified to create more dynamic on-road performance and a new 2.8-litre engine is now available. Equipment specifications have also been upgraded to keep pace with connectivity, entertainment and safety, while new external styling revisions enhance its presence.

2021 Toyota Hilux equipment: multimedia package

All new Hilux models from Icon grade upwards are equipped with the latest Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system, which features upgraded software to improve its responsiveness. On the flagship Invincible X grade (as below), the functionality includes satellite navigation. Smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is another new feature and provided as standard from Icon grade upwards.

The richness of the Hilux Invincible X’s on-board infotainment extends to a powerful nine-speaker JBL Premium Sound audio system, with an eight-channel amp, 244mm subwoofer and Clari-Fi technology to optimise the quality of compressed digital audio files.

2021 Toyota Hilux: choose your body

As before, customers can choose the Hilux body style that best suits their needs: Single Cab for a focus on work; Extra Cab, when occasional extra seating is needed; and Double Cab, with five-seat, four-door convenience, generous deck space and formidable all-wheel-drive performance.

Active grade can be specified in all body styles, while Icon, Invincible and Invincible X are only available in Double Cab format. The new 201bhp 2.8-litre engine (below) is an option on Invincible and Invincible X models only.

  1. I have recently purchased a new 2022 Toyota hilux invinsible x, there is no front parking assist – this was as standard on our 2018 model before. Please can you advise?

    1. Hi Alex,

Are you referring to front parking sensors? What is your vehicle registration please.

      Thanks

  2. Hi Toyota I have a 2021 Hilux invincible x 2.8 auto YD21JGT how do I set/adjust the headlights to drive in Europe? Some people say they are flat beam others say I need deflectors

    1. Hi John, thanks for your question.

Your nearest Toyota Centre will be able to tell you if the left of your beam has kick-up. If there is a kick-up, you’ll need to apply stickers to remove the kick-up.

      We hope this helps.

      Thanks.

  3. I’ve just purchased a toyota hilux invincible X (Reg 22)- is the car fitted with a tracker? If yes, what kind?

    1. Hi Shannon, thanks for your question.

Please provide a Vehicle Registration so that we can look into this.

      Thanks.

  4. Hello, I have a 2022 Invincible X. How do I turn off the alarm internal monitoring so I can leave a dog in the car without the alarm sounding. Thanks Geoff

    1. Hi Geoff, thanks for your question.

Please provide your Vehicle Registration so that we can look into this for you.

      Thanks.

    1. Hi Geoff, thanks for your comment.

Please may you confirm your Vehicle Registration, as our system doesn’t recognise this.

      Thanks.

      1. Hi Geoff,

This vehicle is equipped with Apple CarPlay. Your Multimedia Manual will advise you how to use this.

        Thanks.

      2. Hi, sorry but Apple Car play is not listed in the Apps and my owners manual shows a generic and much older Media system that bears no resemblance to the unit fitted to the vehicle. Its the same thing with the online manuals so I can’t see how to access Apple Car Play. Also what about my alarm question – although I now suspect the vehicle doesn’t have interior monitoring. Thanks Geoff

      3. Unfortunately neither of your bits of advice help. The manual doesn’t tell me how to turn off the internal motion sensor element of the alarm, so how can I stop my dogs setting off the alarm if I lock the vehicle with the dogs inside. The advice on Apple Car play doesn’t help as the App does not appear the when I plug my phone in via a cable I don’t get any options. Please can you advise. Geoff

      4. Hi Geoff,

Your nearest Toyota Centre should be able to help you connect your smartphone to Apple CarPlay.

Unfortunately, our Technical Team have advised that the internal alarm cannot be switched off.

        Thanks.

I have recently purchased a 2022 Hilux Invincible X, I have noticed after viewing pictures of the Invincible X I have noticed that my vehicle does not have the speakers on the dash below the windscreen, is this a build issue, I’m also doubting that the upgraded JBL system has been fitted.
Should this not have been noticed before it left the factory by pre-delivery quality inspection.

  6. Hi

Iv bought and invincible x 2022 plate, the front sensors are there but they don’t work, I see there is a similar comment above

Should this model have front parking sensors

    1. Hi David,
      Thanks for your comment.
Please can you provide the vehicle registration so we can check this for you?
      Thanks.

  7. Hi. I have just picked up my 2023 hilux invincible x. Registration number. WD23TSX. I ordered it in March 2022. ..and i have just noticed there is no front JBL speakers fitted. Or maybe the whole system is not fitted? All the threads I have read and the toyota website says its a standard fitment in this model.
Please can you advise what I should do now?
    Many thanks
    Neil
