Design and Packaging

There are three body sizes – compact, medium and long. At 4.6 metres long and with a 2.9-metre wheelbase, the compact version is remarkably spacious within its more modest external dimensions, providing accommodation for nine people on board. In spite of this, its turning circle is just 11.3 metres, making it a highly manoeuvrable vehicle for use around town.

The medium version is 4.9 metres long and its wheelbase is extended to 3.2 metres. The long version retains the 3.2-metre wheelbase but features an extended rear overhang to make more space for luggage, increasing the overall length to 5.3 metres.

The dashboard design features clear, analogue dials and ergonomic switchgear. The driver enjoys excellent all-round visibility from the elevated, SUV-like driving position and use of a short-throw gear lever mounted close to the steering wheel.

The Family grade focuses on space, modularity and comfort for leisure users. Its eight-seat layout features rail-mounted, sliding and removable, 60:40 split second and third row seating, giving an extra dimension of flexibility and practicality. Second row passengers benefit from aeroplane-style seatback tables, and all six rear seats are equipped with Isofix child seat anchors.

Additional equipment features in addition to the Shuttle specification include carpet mats, a luggage over and net, side window sunshades, 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, satellite navigation, a touchscreen-controlled multimedia system, an opening tailgate window and a folding function for the door mirrors. Toyota Safety Sense is also provided as standard on the Family model. The multi-function roof and rear air conditioning are not available with the compact body.

The VIP is designed for use as executive transport and comes with appropriately high equipment specification and comfort levels. It accommodates seven, with (heated) captain’s chairs for the driver and front passenger.

As on the Family model, the rail-mounted second and third row seats can be slide-adjusted, or removed altogether. There is also an occasional rear table, again mounted on rails for easy adjustment. The centre row seats can be reversed to provide a more informal travelling configuration.

Key equipment features include welcome illumination, smart entry and start, xenon headlamps, front passenger seat height and lumbar adjustment, a head-up display, rear parking sensors, rear privacy glass and automatic power-closing side doors.

Engines and gearboxes

The front-wheel drive Proace Verso is available with a choice of three powertrains featuring 1.6 and 2.0-litre turbodiesel engines.

The 113bhp/85kW 1.6-litre engine is equipped with stop and start and uses a six-speed manual gearbox. Target CO2 emissions (subject to homologation) are between 133 and 137g/km.

The 148bhp/100kW 2.0-litre unit also makes use of a six-speed manual transmission and is expected to generate between 139 and 143 g/km of CO2.

A 177bhp/126kW version of the 2.0 engine completes the UK range, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission. CO2 emissions of 151 to 159g/km are anticipated.

Proace Verso is available with Toyota Safety Sense, equipping the vehicle with active safety and driver assistance technologies designed to help prevent an accident happening, or mitigating the consequences of an impact. The package includes Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Alert, Road Sign Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic High Beam. 1. Hi Anna,
The Multi-Function roof provides rear air-con and lights in the vehicle. The Panoramic roof is a large glass panel along the vehicle’s roof. In the Proace Verso brochure there are full explanations for these features. Many thanks and we hope this helps in answering your questions! 🙂

    1. Hi William,
Thanks for getting in touch. We believe you are talking about the front axle capacity, which is 1500kg for the Proace VIP. Hope this answers your question.

    1. Hi Oliver,
Thanks for getting in contact with us. We can confirm that there is a seating configuration available where the 2nd row of seats face backwards but that is a 7 seat configuration (VIP grade). The only 9 seat figuration is the shuttle grade however, all the seats would face forwards. Hope this helps.
