  1. Hi Bruce, thanks for your questions. This article was published in March, using Europe-wide information. The UK specification of the New Auris sees the 1.6 VVT-i engine replaced by the 1.2T, meaning the former will not be available in the UK. We’ve put together a primer on the 1.2T here – http://po.st/new12t – and will look at doing something more comparative in the near future. Hope this helps Bruce!

  2. Hi, is adaptive (radar) cruise available ? Thinking about a top spec Excel Touring with the safety pack and pano roof.

  3. Hi Matthew. We’re pleased to hear you’re thinking about getting an Auris! The cruise control is standard, so there is no radar cruise. Let us know if we can be any more help. Thanks!

    1. That’s disappointing. Cruise is also standard on the Prius, but you can also have radar cruise in the technology pack.

It’s a big mistake in a competitive market in my opinion – and somewhat reduces the appeal of the “Pre-Collision System” (this presumably being the less advanced version without radar)

      1. Thanks for your feedback Matthew. As a side note, the pre-collision system uses a camera and laser system to detect objects in front of the car, as opposed to radar technology. However, we’ll pass on your comments to our product department. Thanks.

  4. Hi,
My simple feature requirements are power folding mirrors but low profile tyres are a no no. Desirable features are rain sensor and auto dimming rear view mirror.
Scratching my head why Auris cannot meet any of my requirements unlike the customer friendly marketing features offered on the Avensis Business edition which meet all my requirements easily at even lower cost than Auris Excel say.
I am assuming Auris Excel still has low profile tyres .

  5. Hi Duncan, thanks for getting in touch. The Avensis and Auris are aimed at different audiences and therefore have different levels of standard equipment because they compete in different segments. Power folding mirrors are only available on the Excel trim on the Auris, as well as features such as the rain sensor and an electrochromatic rear-view mirror. Lower profile tyres are fitted to the Auris Excel. It sounds like the new Avensis would suit your needs, and we’d be happy to help arrange a test drive and know your thoughts. Thanks again, and hope this helps.

    1. Hello Michael. Thanks for your question. The manual doesn’t, but the automatic does. Hope this helps!

    1. Hi Michael, thanks for your question. The auto emits between 106g/km-122g/km depending on specification.

  6. I’ve ordered a Auris Touring Sport Excel 1.2t Automatic the spec says it has Stop/Start System as its a Automatic how doe’s this work as I thought Automatics only start in Park

    1. Hi Michael, thanks for getting in touch. Although this is true, normally automatics will only start in park, when a car engages start/stop it is a separate function and the car is aware that you are going to pull off again shortly and instead just waits for you to depress the accelerator again. We hope you enjoy the car and this function when you receive your Auris!
